Rawalpindi: The Additional Deputy Commissioner registered a domestic violence case against her husband, accusing him of physical and psychological abuse, wrongful confinement and repeated threats to her life.
The case was registered at Rawalpindi’s Women Police Station under Sections 342 and 506 of the Pakistan Penal Code for wrongful confinement and criminal intimidation.
According to the complaint, a mother of two minor children alleges that she was subjected to physical, psychological and emotional abuse for several months.
She alleged that the situation escalated on October 2 when her husband assaulted her, took away her mobile phone and confined her to a room.
The FIR states that she was prevented from contacting her family, meeting her children or approaching the police for assistance. She also alleged that her husband threatened her life and threatened to harm their children.
The complaint described the alleged conduct as part of a continuing pattern of violence, intimidation and controlling behaviour, rather than as an isolated domestic dispute.
She further alleged that restrictions on her access to her children were used as a means of pressure and intimidation.
The ADC told police that she feared for her life and physical safety and sought immediate protection. She also requested legal action, a medical examination and documentation of her alleged injuries as evidence.
Police registered the case and arrested her husband. A Rawalpindi court subsequently remanded him to jail for 14 days.
Police said the allegations were under investigation and that further legal proceedings would be based on the evidence collected in the case.
