Lahore: Operations Division police in Lahore have arrested 15 suspects wanted in connection with separate cases involving sexual violence, child abuse, and gender based harassment across the provincial capital, following reports confirmed on Friday.
The targeted operations, carried out in response to emergency complaints and pending investigations, span multiple police divisions across the city. Official statements from the DIG Operations spokesperson confirmed that all 15 arrests correspond to distinct, registered legal cases, with formal charging procedures and judicial proceedings now underway.
In cases involving sexual abuse and rape, Baghbanpura Police apprehended suspects Faisal and Ahsan over the alleged abuse of a minor, while Kahna Police arrested a man named Adil in connection with an alleged rape case. Simultaneously, Liaqatabad Police detained suspect Owais following an investigation into the alleged rape of a young girl.
In addition to completed assaults, law enforcement acted on reports of attempted sexual violence. Achhra Police arrested Shakeel, while Tibi City Police took Asif into custody in independent cases involving alleged attempts to assault young girls, preventing further harm through rapid response protocols.
Concurrently, 10 suspects were rounded up in connection with physical violence and intimidation directed at women. Precinct breakdowns confirm that Liaqatabad Police arrested Hamza, Zain, and Dilawar; Shadbagh Police detained Sarfraz; Lohari Gate and Kot Lakhpat police each arrested individuals named Rashid; North Cantt Police took Amir and Aftab into custody; while Shahdara and Millat Park police apprehended Waheed and Dawood respectively.
Legal experts note that while prompt arrests demonstrate increased police responsiveness to gender based violence, sustained prosecution and conviction rates remain critical to deterring the systemic prevalence of sexual crimes and street harassment across urban centers.
