Lahore: Police have arrested four members of an 18 year old woman's family in connection with her death in Lahore's Sanda area, after an investigation found evidence of alleged prolonged physical abuse.
Police identified the suspects as the girl's father, her brothers, and her sister. Police said they took into custody all the main suspects identified in the investigation.
According to police, the victim was brought dead to Ganga Ram Hospital on 26 September with signs of physical injuries. The people who brought her to the hospital allegedly left her body there and fled.
Police subsequently registered a murder case on the state's complaint and began investigating the circumstances surrounding her death.
Initial findings indicated that the victim was allegedly subjected to repeated physical abuse using different objects. Police also reported evidence of burn injuries on parts of her body. The precise circumstances and motive behind the alleged abuse remain under investigation.
A spokesperson for the DIG Operations said the young girl died following prolonged alleged abuse and that investigators were continuing to examine the case.
Police said all four principal suspects had been arrested and further investigation was underway to establish the sequence of events leading to the girl's death and determine individual responsibility.
