Karachi: A district and sessions court in Karachi South formally charged Anmol, also known as Pinky, and her alleged associate Sameer on Saturday in a narcotics case registered by Darakhshan police in 2021.
Both defendants appeared through video link and denied the allegations after the charges were read to them. The court subsequently issued notices to prosecution witnesses and summoned them to record their evidence.
Framing charges, also called an indictment, means the court has identified the accusations that the defendants will face at trial. It does not amount to a conviction, and the prosecution must still prove its case through evidence and witnesses.
Anmol was arrested in May 2026 and has since faced proceedings in several cases registered at different Karachi police stations. Earlier investigations alleged that Sameer had worked as a rider and maintained bank accounts used by Anmol, although these claims remain subject to judicial determination.
The latest proceedings are separate from three narcotics cases registered at Gizri Police Station in which Anmol was acquitted by a trial court in August. The Sindh prosecution has challenged those acquittals before the Sindh High Court, which adjourned the appeals earlier this week.
