Karachi: Pakistani actor Sania Saeed and Indian Punjabi actor Ammy Virk have praised their performances in the television drama Aap Ki Izzat, drawing attention to the production beyond its original audience.
During a recent US tour, Saeed praised Ahsan Khan's portrayal in the drama, calling it one of the best performances of his career. Entertainment platform Something Haute shared her remarks, reporting that Saeed appreciated how Khan approached his character and brought it to life on screen.
Meanwhile, Indian Punjabi actor and singer Ammy Virk congratulated Khan and his co star Urwa Hocane on their work in the serial.
“Ahsan Khan aur Urwa ji ko unke dramay Aap Ki Izzat ke liye bohot bohot vadhaiyan,” Virk said, extending his congratulations to both actors.
His message adds a cross border dimension to the response to the drama, reflecting Indian artists' continued engagement with Pakistani television productions despite restrictions and political tensions affecting cultural exchange between the two countries.
Written by Umera Ahmed and directed by Saife Hassan, Aap Ki Izzat explores marriage, emotional neglect, family expectations, and the consequences of relationship decisions.
The serial features Khan as Tabish, Hocane as his wife Beena and Saeed as Nafeesa, Tabish's mother. The story examines a marriage's breakdown and the different expectations placed on men and women within family structures. Through its characters, the drama addresses questions of respect, responsibility and personal accountability.
Khan's portrayal of Tabish has fueled discussion about the serial, particularly the character's conduct and its consequences for those around him. Saeed's appreciation is also significant given her involvement in the production, as she worked alongside Khan and Hocane.
Virk's congratulations highlight the Pakistani television audience that has developed outside the country, particularly in India, where dramas have circulated through digital platforms and social media.
Pakistani serials have frequently attracted viewers across South Asia because of their shared languages, cultural references and treatment of family relationships. Although formal entertainment collaborations between Pakistan and India have faced restrictions, actors and audiences continue to engage with each other's work through online platforms.
Virk's remarks reflect that engagement, with an Indian performer publicly acknowledging the work of Pakistani television actors.
Saeed's and Virk's responses also illustrate two perspectives on Aap Ki Izzat: appreciation from a fellow cast member familiar with the production process and recognition from an artist in another entertainment industry.
Both comments have renewed attention to Khan and Hocane's performances and to the drama's portrayal of relationships, family responsibilities, and respect within marriage.
