Islamabad: The federal government announced revised reductions in petrol and high speed diesel prices, bringing both fuels below Rs 390 per litre from Tuesday, October 20.
According to a notification issued by the Petroleum Division on Monday, petrol was reduced by Rs 5.16 per litre, from Rs 386.30 to Rs 381.14.
The price of high speed diesel fell by Rs 7.69 per litre, from Rs 396.96 to Rs 389.27.
The reductions come as Pakistan continues to review domestic petroleum prices daily in response to changes in international energy markets.
Under the revised pricing arrangement, the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) determines daily fuel prices based on international market trends.
Despite the latest reductions, fuel prices remain substantially above the levels recorded before the conflict began in late February.
The government continues to collect about Rs 114 per litre in taxes and duties on petrol and Rs 100 per litre on diesel.
Changes in petrol prices directly affect motorists, motorcycle users, and rickshaw operators, while diesel costs influence freight transport, public transport, and businesses that rely on heavy vehicles and generators.
The latest price cuts offer some relief to fuel consumers. Still, their broader impact on transport charges and household expenses will depend on future pricing decisions and how businesses adjust their costs.
