Dubai: Pakistani actor Saba Qamar and Indian entertainer Rakhi Sawant have become the latest cross border pairing to catch social media’s attention after the two met in Dubai.
Qamar shared photographs and video from the meeting on Instagram, showing the two posing together and spending time together. Sawant also presented Qamar with a bouquet and a ring during the interaction.
Footage from the meeting showed Sawant approaching Qamar with the flowers before the pair posed for photographs and shared a dance.
The unexpected pairing has since circulated across entertainment and social media pages, turning what appeared to be a casual Dubai catch up into an India Pakistan pop culture moment.
The interaction has also attracted reactions from social media users in both countries, with the pairing drawing attention because of the two stars’ contrasting public personas and their respective followings.
For Qamar, the meeting adds another India Pakistan connection to a career that has previously crossed the border. She appeared opposite Irrfan Khan in the 2017 Bollywood film Hindi Medium, a role that expanded her audience in India.
Sawant, meanwhile, has repeatedly engaged with Pakistani entertainment figures and audiences. In August, Pakistani actor and Tamasha host Adnan Siddiqui said having Sawant on the reality programme would be a “dream”, noting the show’s response from viewers in India.
With formal entertainment collaborations between artists from the two countries remaining limited, Qamar and Sawant’s Dubai encounter has offered fans a lighter cross border moment, with social media doing the rest.
