Karachi: Fahad Mustafa and rapper Talha Anjum are set to share the screen in Powerbank, a Pakistani film scheduled for release in cinemas on October 16.
The film is directed and produced by Ali Abdullah, who also appears in the cast. Anjum makes his acting debut as the central antagonist, opposite Mustafa.
The teaser does not disclose much of the plot, but presents a darker story centred on crime, power and what it portrays as the systems and mafia networks operating within Pakistani society. Its visuals establish the tone without revealing the full conflict between the characters.
Anjum’s casting provides one of the teaser’s main points of interest, placing the musician in a role outside his established career. Abdullah, meanwhile, is known for satirical and comic commentary on social media and has previously appeared alongside Mustafa in Aag Lagay Basti Mein.
For Mustafa, Powerbank continues a run of film projects in 2026 and appears to move towards a different subject from his earlier release Aag Lagay Basti Mein, which followed a struggling couple whose attempts to improve their finances draw them into crime.
As a first look, the teaser relies on its visual treatment and casting rather than explaining the narrative. The confrontation between Mustafa and Anjum, along with the focus on crime and social structures, suggests where the story may be heading.
The voiceover is less consistent, sounding processed and detached from the otherwise grounded visual treatment. The performances and cinematography, however, give the teaser a clearer identity and leave the central story largely undisclosed.
Powerbank is scheduled to arrive in cinemas on October 16.
