Lahore: Punjab Assembly member Hina Parvez Butt has drawn on the storyline of the television drama Dar e Nijaat to offer marriage advice, saying couples should communicate openly when past relationships or personal matters cause misunderstandings.
The PMLN lawmaker shared a video on Instagram in which she discussed how past experiences and mistakes can affect future relationships, particularly when previously private information comes to light after marriage.
Butt said people facing such circumstances should avoid making decisions in anger and instead discuss the issue with their spouse. She said couples should address misunderstandings through communication rather than letting past experiences undermine the current relationship.
“A husband and wife should properly communicate their misunderstandings and fix the problem,” she said, adding that a successful marriage should be based on respect and trust.
In the caption accompanying the video, Butt said a person may have an old relationship or another aspect of their past that they would prefer to keep private. However, she added that such information could affect a marriage if it later became known.
She advised couples not to conceal information or lie in such situations, arguing that honest discussion could help resolve misunderstandings.
“Live in the present. A good marriage is built on respect and trust,” Butt said, adding that past experiences need not determine the course of a person's present relationship.
Her comments centred on Dar e Nijaat, which explores relationship difficulties that arise when past events begin to affect the present. Butt used the drama's storyline to emphasise patience, communication and mutual trust when couples face similar disagreements.
