Islamabad: Rainfall recorded across Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Kohat, Karak, Mianwali, and Dunyapur caused surface runoff to gather in low lying areas. Additional precipitation was recorded in Jhang, Chashma, Darya Khan, Kacha Gujrat, and Piplan. In Kundian, runoff entered residential structures and inundated streets. Tripping power feeders resulted in electricity supply disruptions across several affected distribution networks.
In response to precipitation levels, the Water and Sanitation Agency declared a rain emergency in Rawalpindi, deploying field officers, operational personnel, and drainage machinery to low lying sectors. Water level monitoring along Nullah Lai recorded five feet at Kattarian and two feet at Gawalmandi Bridge, remaining within normal thresholds.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department forecasts continued rainfall with gusty winds and thunderstorms over the next 24 hours. The Met Office projects precipitation across isolated locations in Islamabad, Kashmir, Attock, Bahawalnagar, Chakwal, Chiniot, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Sargodha, Hafizabad, Jhang, Jhelum, and Lahore, with localized heavy falls expected in Bhakkar, Dera Ghazi Khan, Khushab, Mianwali, and the upper catchments of the Ravi and Sutlej rivers. In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, rainfall is predicted for Bannu, Dera Ismail Khan, Karak, Lakki Marwat, and Tank, alongside isolated areas of Gilgit Baltistan, whilst dry conditions persist across most of Sindh and Balochistan.
