Islamabad: Bushra Bibi, wife of former prime minister Imran Khan, has approached the Islamabad High Court (IHC), seeking immediate specialist treatment for her deteriorating eyesight and permission to consult doctors of her choice at her own expense.
The application, filed in connection with pending appeals in the £190 million corruption case, requests the court to direct Adiala jail authorities to submit a comprehensive medical report detailing her diagnosis and treatment.
It also seeks an immediate examination by an ophthalmologist and access to her complete medical records.
Barrister Salman Safdar, counsel for Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi, submitted an affidavit describing concerns raised during his meeting with the couple at Adiala jail on 2 November.
According to Safdar, the meeting lasted approximately 40 minutes. He said Bushra Bibi was wearing dark glasses and appeared distressed when she removed them.
Safdar stated that Bushra Bibi complained of difficulty tolerating sunlight and artificial light, saying she could not open her eyes without protective glasses.
The lawyer also reported that she had been diagnosed with a mature cataract by doctors who examined her and had been advised to undergo another eye operation around 15 November.
Bushra Bibi previously underwent eye surgery on 18 April before returning to Adiala jail.
She also expressed dissatisfaction with the medical treatment and hygiene conditions at the prison, according to Safdar's affidavit.
Her legal team has requested judicial intervention to ensure timely specialist medical care and access to doctors of her choice.
The court's response to the latest application has not yet been reported.
