Islamabad: Pakistani farmers and agricultural sector producers are looking to expand the scope of trade with Saudi Arabia to USD 3 billion within two years, with products like fruit, vegetables and rice topping the list of export goods.

The target was agreed during a visit to Islamabad by a delegation led by Saudi Environment, Water and Agriculture Minister Abdul Rahman Al Fadley in late August. Red meat, green fodder and water efficient agricultural technologies were identified as priority areas, with the both sides seeking to expand private sector cooperation as well.

Pakistan exported over 169,000 tons of rice worth USD 163 million to Saudi Arabia in 2025. “Saudi is the world’s second largest market, and they import 1200,000 tons of basmati rice,” the chairman of the Rice Export Association of Pakistan (REAP) Malik Faysal Jahangir said in an interview.

REAP is targeting around 325,000 tons of rice exports to Saudi Arabia during the current fiscal year.
