What QOM is
Qom is not for the faint of heart, because Qom is evidence based and sometimes the truth can be heart stopping, heartfelt, or heart wrenching. Qom is defined by its commitment to our motto, “Your country, your story” but not just the stories that exist on the surface. When you follow the evidence, stories emerge that redefine how we view the world around us. This is not about finding a single thread and following it, this is about pulling at a thread until the pattern emerges.
Qom also commits itself to maintaining a standard of procedure that lives in every part of our ecosystem. We believe in being the first to be right, which means we may not always be first on the scene, but you can always trust what we say, and verify it internally and externally. At Qom, we make our resources accessible to the public so they can check our work and make sure we are getting their story right.
What QOM believes
We maintain that the best way to provide accountability is to begin with ourselves. Qom aims to provide a record, a permanent public structured archive of every claim, price and premise we have checked in our key segments. Our record reflects a structured and accessible public resource that is permanent and verifiable. Our corrections are made publicly and not buried.
We accept that everyone has a right to understand what governs their lives in a manner that isn’t defined by privilege or access. Life is a process governed by specific things – events, people, places – and the actual work of Qom is to establish the facts clearly and plainly so that people can find the meaning of in the facts for themselves and within their circumstances. It is not about telling people what happened, but about letting them see what happened for themselves.
You have the right to understand the world around you and to function within the belief that people make better decisions based on evidence than just on what happened to reach them first. That this should not depend on circumstances beyond your control and that you deserve the most accurate account of what happened as is possible at the time.
Who QOM is
Qom is a public institution and a part of the public consciousness. It is a private company, but that is an observation about its behavior, not its values. The distinction is that Qom is never swayed by interests that are invisible to the public. It is always open and front facing about its structure, motives and capacity.
This does not mean we will not make mistakes, that there will not be moments when judgement fails us, but the promise Qom provides is that we will always be driven, internally and externally by a foundational belief in the importance of equality of information. Our name is not chosen to reflect a separation from the idea, but to live within the idea that you are your story, and your story, like your country belongs to you.
