Andrew and Tristan Tate have told a Florida court they should be released from jail on bond so they can fight extradition to the UK on charges of rape and trafficking. Wearing jail uniforms, the brothers say they did not commit the crimes they are accused of and were vocal of the conditions in the prison as well.

The judge in the case, Lauren Louis, said she would issue a written ruling later even as the prosecution argued the two brothers a re a flight risk. British authorities have until 16 September to submit a full extradition request.

Andrew Tate, a former professional kickboxer, testified that to support himself financially, he "had to go back to the boxing ring against heavier, younger opponents", according to CBS News. "I've said some stupid things, but sometimes you have to shake the internet to get noticed," he said, according to CBS.

"I'm being treated like El Chapo," he added, referring to the Mexican drug kingpin, "but I have a perfect record in the court system".

The UK has brought a total of 59 criminal charges against the Tates, including charges relating to sex trafficking and indecent images of a child. British authorities filed 21 charges last year against the brothers, then an additional 38 counts last month.

The brothers also face sex trafficking charges in Romania in 2022, and were under a travel ban until they were allowed to come to the US in 2025.
