Karachi: The annual changing of the guards ceremony is taking place at the Quaid e Azam's mausoleum in Karachi, with uniformed service members from two services participating in the ceremony taking place in front of the spectacular edifice. The tradition of the armed forces taking over the ceremonial responsibilities of guarding the Quaid's tomb dates back to 1972, with each branch of the military managing ceremonial and security duties for a predetermined period.

This year, cadets from the PAF Academy Asghar Khan take over responsibilities from cadets of the Pakistan Naval Academy, who began their duties on August 14. The PAF cadets will continue in their role of providing a guard of honour and assuming security duties until December 25, which is the Quaid e e Azam's birthday, when they will be relieved by cadets of the Pakistan Military Academy at Kakul.

The event is attended by high ranking officers of the navy and air force, as well as other invited guests.
