Lahore: The National Cybercrime Investigation Agency sent new summons' to actress Momina Iqbal and PML-N MPA Saqib Chadhar on Thursday saying that new evidence has emerged in the case.

Earlier this year Iqbal publicly accused Chadhar of online harassment, cyberbullying and threats. Her allegations made through social media gained signifcant attention and the NCCIA registered a case against Chadhar under several provisions of the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) and the Pakistan Penal Code.

Iqbal has been summoned to appear at the NCCIA office in Lahore on September 14, while Chadhar has been summoned on September 11. The agency has also constituted a special investigation team to conduct a fresh inquiry into the matter.

“The team has been given one month to complete its investigation and submit a report to the NCCIA director general,” said NCCIA Punjab's Deputy Director Waqas Saeed, adding that further legal action would be decided in light of the findings of the investigation.

The spokesperson said that it would be premature to declare either of the individuals “guilty” or “innocent” before the completion of the inquiry.
