Quetta: The central committee of the National Party (NP) convened on Friday under the chairmanship of party president Dr Abdul Malik Baloch to deliberate on the country's worsening political and economic climate.
Issuing a formal communique following the meeting, the NP leadership asserted that building a consensus based national course is the only viable path to strengthening the federation and safeguarding democratic institutions.
Dr Malik cautioned political stakeholders against adopting policies that deepen institutional mistrust. He reiterated that national stability depends entirely on adhering to constitutional mandates and granting parliament its rightful decision making sovereignty.
Addressing the security landscape, the NP chief drew particular attention to the precarious conditions in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).
He observed that "The country’s problems cannot be resolved through further administrative divisions or the use of force, but through the restoration of democracy, respect for federal principles, and genuine political dialogue."
Furthermore, the central committee highlighted the systemic pressures facing mainstream democratic institutions, pointing out that media freedoms and civil society spaces are being increasingly curtailed across the country.
Party delegates warned that suppressing dissenting voices and marginalising mainstream political parties only serves to fuel public resentment and push disenfranchised youth towards radical alternatives.
To counter this trajectory, the NP resolved to engage with other democratic political forces to launch a unified movement aimed at protecting fundamental rights, safeguarding freedom of expression, and restoring public trust in the parliamentary process.
