Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan has confirmed that the party’s call for a nationwide protest on September 17, is final and non negotiable. Addressing the media near the Dahgal checkpoint outside Adiala Jail and at the Peshawar High Court, Gohar stated that the political entity has been pushed to the brink by continuous systemic restrictions and state crackdowns.
He explained that escalating political friction stems directly from the authorities' refusal to permit regular meetings with jailed PTI founder Imran Khan a level of isolation he characterized as unprecedented for any political prisoner in the nation's history. Gohar sharply criticised both the executive and the judiciary, asserting that courts have consistently failed to enforce their own explicit orders regarding Khan's medical evaluations and visitation rights.
Framing the planned street demonstrations as the party's sole remaining avenue to seek justice, he invited JUI F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman and the broader joint opposition to join the protest. Gohar assured that the rally would remain strictly peaceful, without the use of provincial government resources or weapons. He also proposed a "Sulah e Pakistan" reconciliation framework to resolve national polarisation, while condemning recent remarks by the Punjab Chief Minister regarding the division of existing provinces
