Gaza City: Airstrikes across the Gaza Strip killed at least five Palestinians, including two children, on Sunday, according to Palestinian medical officials.
The latest casualties occurred as occupation forces continued attacks in several areas of the territory, despite a ceasefire that halted major fighting in October 2025.
In western Gaza City, an airstrike hit a civilian vehicle, killing Youssef Akila and his eight year old daughter, Wafaa, according to Mohamed Abu Selmia, head of Al-Shifa Hospital. Six other people were also wounded in the strike.
The occupation military said its forces had targeted a Hamas militant and that it was still assessing the operation’s outcome.
Later, on Sunday, further strikes killed two other people, including a child, in Gaza City, according to medics. Anadolu Agency reported that five Palestinians had been killed across Gaza in the previous 24 hours, including a seven year old child who died after an artillery strike hit a classroom sheltering displaced Palestinians in Deir al Balah.
An attack in Gaza City’s Rimal neighbourhood also killed two Palestinians, while separate strikes in the Tuffah neighbourhood and the Shati refugee camp wounded several others. Nine people were reportedly injured when two airstrikes hit an evacuated commercial building near the so-called “yellow line” in Tuffah.
The October 2025 US backed ceasefire ended the main phase of fighting but has not halted military strikes. The occupying force says its operations are intended to prevent attacks by Hamas and other armed groups. Hamas has accused the occupation of violating the ceasefire and undermining efforts to implement a wider US backed plan to end the conflict.
According to Gaza health officials, more than 1,300 Palestinians, mostly civilians, have been killed since the ceasefire took effect.
