Bajaur: A woman and her daughter were found dead inside their home in the Wara Kharkai area of Bajaur district's War Mamond tehsil on Saturday, with police investigating the circumstances surrounding their deaths.
According to police and local residents, preliminary reports suggested that the woman had allegedly killed her daughter before taking her own life. The circumstances and reasons behind the incident have not been established.
The incident occurred in a hilly area within the jurisdiction of War Mamond police station. Authorities had not confirmed the woman's identity at the time of reporting.
A police team reached the house after receiving information about the deaths and transferred both bodies to the District Headquarters Hospital in Khar for postmortem examinations.
Following the examinations, the bodies were handed over to relatives for burial. District police spokesperson Mansoor Khan said an investigation had been launched to determine what had happened and establish the circumstances leading to the deaths.
Police have not disclosed the findings of the postmortem examinations or confirmed a motive.
Man killed in separate shooting
In another incident in Bajaur, a 57 year old man was killed after unidentified gunmen opened fire on him in Mina Bazaar, Lowi Mamond tehsil, on Friday night. Police and residents identified the victim as Malik Tamreez Khan, who was returning home when he was attacked.
He was taken to the District Headquarters Hospital in Khar, where he later died. The identity of the attackers and the motive for the shooting were not immediately known. Police have not reported any arrests in connection with the incident, and no link between the two cases has been established.
