Seoul: Pakistan’s national senior hockey team has arrived in the Republic of Korea for a preparatory tour ahead of the upcoming Asian Games in Nagoya, Japan.

The squad will take part in joint training sessions and a series of practice matches against the South Korean national team as part of its preparations for the continental event.

The matches are expected to provide Pakistan with valuable international exposure and an opportunity to test different tactical combinations against a strong Asian opponent. The coaching staff will also be able to assess player fitness and team coordination under competitive conditions.

The tour comes as Pakistan seeks to strengthen its preparations before the Asian Games, where the hockey team will face competition from some of the region’s leading sides.

The Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) said the South Korea tour forms part of its broader efforts to provide the national squad with structured international exposure and opportunities to improve through competition.

Training alongside and playing against the Korean side is expected to help Pakistan identify areas requiring improvement before the team enters the Asian Games campaign.

For the players, the tour also provides an opportunity to build confidence and develop greater understanding on the field ahead of the high pressure continental tournament.

Pakistan has a strong history in Asian hockey, and the Asian Games remain an important platform for the national team. The preparations in South Korea therefore offer the squad a chance to translate training into match readiness before the competition begins.
