Islamabad: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) on Friday approved an increase in electricity prices across Pakistan, raising rates by Rs2.06 per unit under the monthly fuel price adjustment and 52 paise per unit under the quarterly tariff adjustment.

Together, the two adjustments will place a cumulative financial burden of approximately Rs45.67 billion on electricity consumers nationwide.

According to the power regulator, the monthly fuel cost adjustment of Rs2.06 per unit applies to electricity consumed in July 2026. The additional charge will be billed to consumers during September 2026, generating an estimated financial impact of Rs33 billion.

Separately, NEPRA approved a quarterly adjustment of 52 paise per unit covering the period from April to June 2026. The decision has been forwarded to the federal government for implementation.

This quarterly rate hike will remain in effect for three months, covering billing cycles from September through November 2026. The authority confirmed that the quarterly adjustment will also apply to consumers serviced by K-Electric. The measure is projected to collect an additional Rs12.67 billion from consumers.

NEPRA has issued formal notifications for both price revisions. Electricity bills issued for September 2026 will reflect the Rs2.06 per-unit monthly fuel adjustment as well as the initial installment of the 52-paisa quarterly adjustment. Consumers will continue to pay the 52-paisa quarterly surcharge through October and November.
