Islamabad: The M1 motorway between Islamabad and Peshawar was open on Monday, according to the latest National Highways and Motorway Police travel advisory, but restrictions remained on routes connecting to Hazara and Dera Ismail Khan.
The advisory listed the M1 and the Peshawar to Islamabad section of GT Road as clear. On the E35 Hazara Motorway, however, all three southbound lanes from Jhuri Kas to Burhan remained closed because of a law and order situation. A separate southbound lane was closed for road work at Akhoon Di Bandi.
On the M14, the section between Kot Belian and Isa Khel was closed to all traffic in both directions for road work. The advisory reported cloudy weather on the Islamabad to Kot Momin stretch of the M2 but listed no closure there.
The restrictions follow road closures introduced ahead of PTI’s march on Islamabad. The party subsequently postponed its planned 27 September departure and says the march will now begin from Peshawar on 4 October.
The NHMP advisory supplied for this update was refreshed at different times for each route on 28 September. Motorists should check its latest status before setting out, particularly for the E35 and M14.
