Lahore: The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has arrested 26 people, including 17 women, in connection with suspected cyber fraud and what officials described as a honey trap scheme.
An agency official said the women allegedly contacted men through digital platforms and obtained gifts and financial benefits from them. Investigators seized 35 mobile phones and two laptops and registered a case.
The report did not detail the alleged deception or establish whether threats or blackmail were involved.
In a raid in Allama Iqbal Town, the agency arrested nine men allegedly operating a call centre that targeted foreign citizens with fraudulent offers of mobile phones and communication packages.
The arrests follow other investigations into suspected illegal call centres. Earlier this week, NCCIA arrested 39 people at a centre allegedly operating under the cover of medical billing services. The agency also recently conducted raids in Johar Town and Faisal Town.
The reported allegations concern both personal contact through digital platforms and fraudulent commercial offers. The report did not establish whether the suspects arrested in the latest operations were linked to the earlier call centre cases.
