Nasirabad: Two police head constables were killed after unidentified armed men opened fire on a police patrol near Bedar Bridge in Balochistan's Nasirabad district on Saturday, October 17.
According to police, the officers were travelling on a motorcycle during a patrol when gunmen attacked them. Both officers died at the scene. The deceased were identified as Head Constable Malik Bugti and Head Constable Ahmad Lashari.
Police said the attackers took the officers' service weapons before fleeing the area. Deputy Superintendent of Police Ghulam Sarwar Mengal confirmed that the assailants escaped with the weapons following the shooting.
After receiving information about the incident, police and security forces cordoned off the area and launched a search operation to locate those responsible. Authorities also initiated an investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding the attack and identify the perpetrators.
Meanwhile, the families of the deceased officers staged a sit in at Pat Feeder Bridge, placing the bodies at the protest site and blocking the Sindh Balochistan National Highway. The road closure disrupted traffic between the two provinces and affected motorists travelling along the route.
Security measures were increased in the surrounding area following the attack, while police continued efforts to trace and arrest the suspects. Authorities have not announced any arrests in connection with the incident, and no group has been identified as responsible for the attack.
