Tokyo: Sony is considering the design of a new gaming controller in which a complete touchscreen could be used instead of traditional buttons and analogue sticks.
According to the famous technology website Phone World, details of this unique design have emerged in a recent patent by Sony. This controller could be considered for the PlayStation 6 in the future, although Sony has so far not made an official announcement regarding the PlayStation 6 controller.
What will be special in the new controller?
In the proposed design, digital controls will be provided on a touchscreen in place of traditional buttons, a directional pad, and analogue sticks.
Players will be able to change the position of these controls according to their needs, make the size of the buttons smaller or larger, and keep the distance between them according to their preference.

In addition to this, separate control layouts can be saved for different games. Players can also select control layouts like PlayStation or Xbox according to their liking.
Beneficial for disabled people
An important goal of this design is to adapt the controller according to different hand sizes and needs. This can also benefit individuals who face difficulties in using traditional controllers.
However, there are also some drawbacks to removing physical buttons and sticks. In traditional controllers, players can feel the position of buttons by touch, whereas doing so on a smooth touchscreen might be difficult. This issue is particularly important for visually impaired players.
Will the PlayStation 6 have this very controller?
At present, this design is only part of a patent, not a final product. Sony has not yet confirmed whether it will introduce such a controller with the PlayStation 6.
