Kyiv: Russian drones struck warehouses and commercial property across the Kyiv region on September 20, starting fires and damaging vehicles as emergency crews worked during continuing air alerts.
Kyiv regional authorities reported damage in the Boryspil, Fastiv and Bucha districts.
Warehouse buildings caught fire in Boryspil, while a vehicle and a shelter at a private residence were also damaged. One man sustained minor injuries and received medical assistance at the scene but declined hospitalisation.
Local media reported that a drone struck an Eco Market warehouse in the village of Shchaslyve. The company said its employees were safe and its shops remained open while it worked to maintain supplies.
In the Fastiv district, buildings belonging to a business and several vehicles were damaged. An industrial warehouse in Boyarka and a private enterprise in Novosilky were also affected.
A vehicle was damaged and a fire broke out in the Bucha district. Emergency workers later extinguished the blaze.
The attacks followed a major Ukrainian drone operation against Moscow and other parts of Russia. Russian authorities described it as the largest drone assault yet reported against the capital and said three people were killed in the Moscow region.
The Moscow Oil Refinery and a residential building were damaged. Russia’s Ministry of Defence claimed that 1110 Ukrainian drones were intercepted across Russia, occupied Crimea and the Black Sea, although the figure could not be independently confirmed in full.
Ukraine says its operations against Russian oil and logistics facilities are intended to weaken the resources supporting Moscow’s war effort. Russia has increasingly struck Ukrainian energy, industrial and commercial infrastructure.
The timing placed the two attacks within the same cycle of escalating aerial operations. However, describing the Russian strikes as direct retaliation would require confirmation that Moscow had specifically presented them as a response to the Ukrainian operation.
