Rawalpindi: Regional Police Officer (RPO) Rawalpindi Babar Sarfraz Alpa has ordered the immediate arrest of a suspect accused of abducting and sexually assaulting a 12 year old girl in the Westridge area. The victim disappeared on Thursday night after leaving her home in Mohalla Sulemanabad to purchase firewood. Her father, Gulfraz, a local labourer, conducted an all night search with family members after she failed to return.
According to the First Information Report (FIR), the father spotted the suspect, identified as Nazimullah, attempting to leave the area with the young girl on Friday morning. Upon being intercepted, the victim disclosed to her father that the suspect had lured her into his sitting room and subjected her to sexual assault.
The discovery sparked outrage among local residents and relatives, who gathered in large numbers in the street. An angry crowd severely beat the suspect, an incident captured in video footage that subsequently circulated online. However, the accused managed to flee the scene before police arrived.
Following the incident, RPO Babar Sarfraz Alpa instructed senior officers to supervise the investigation and track down the suspect personally. Westridge Police have formally registered a case on the father's complaint, and investigating officers expressed confidence that the suspect would be apprehended soon.
