Rawalpindi: Investigations into the murder of Hina Javed have taken a critical turn after Rawalpindi police confirmed that a domestic worker who was arrested alongside her husband has confessed to the crime.
Hina was found dead on August 20 at her in laws’ residence. Her father in law originally reported a burglary, but responding officers discovered her body suspended from a bathroom shower. Her hands were bound behind her back, cloth was stuffed into her mouth, and a wire was secured around her neck. The post mortem examination revealed severe physical trauma, including fractured neck bones and multiple bodily injuries.
The scene led police to arrest her husband, Faisal Asghar Imam and their domestic employee, Zeeshan. Judicial Magistrate Rana Shehbaz Khan granted investigators a three day extension of physical remand, ordering the completion of the probe. During court proceedings, the victim’s counsel, Shah Khawar, asserted that Hina was brutally murdered by her husband in direct collusion with the employee.
Police revealed that Zeeshan gave multiple conflicting accounts before admitting his involvement. In his final interrogation statement, he claimed he was called into the room during a violent marital argument, alleging that both men caught and strangled Hina as she attempted to flee. Investigators are also probing whether Zeeshan killed her after being caught stealing cash and valuables from the home. However, forensic experts noted that moving the body alone remains physically improbable, pointing towards joint participation.
Both suspects have undergone DNA and polygraph testing at the Punjab Forensic Science Agency in Lahore, with physical evidence including the wire and binding ropes sent for fingerprint analysis. Family spokesperson Shehr Bano expressed confidence in the probe, calling for swift, transparent justice under the law.
