Islamabad: Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) have announced complete road closures between Rawal Dam Chowk and Kashmir Chowk, and between Serena and Kashmir Chowk, for October 24 and 25.
The advisory directs motorists travelling between Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree and Bhara Kahu to use alternative routes. It warns that diversions will disrupt traffic flow and advises commuters to leave 20 to 25 minutes earlier.
The notice does not specify daily closure timings or state the reason for the restrictions.
Alternative routes
- G5, Secretariat or Serena towards Rawalpindi: Use Srinagar Highway and Ninth Avenue, or Srinagar Highway towards Mehrabad and Peshawar Road. The advisory also lists the Lake View U turn for returning towards Murree Road or Club Road.
- Towards Rawal Dam Chowk, Park Road or Lehtrar Road: Use Srinagar Highway, Seventh Avenue, Shakarparian Road, the Tulip Hotel route and Rawal Dam Road.
- Towards Bhara Kahu or Murree: Travel via Faizabad, Faisal Avenue, Zero Point, the Srinagar Highway underpass, Jinnah Square and Konrayan Wala Chowk.
- Rawalpindi towards Islamabad: Use Ninth Avenue, Faqir Aipee Road and Srinagar Highway.
- Park Road or Lehtrar Road towards Islamabad: Use Tulip Hotel Road, Garden Avenue, Shakarparian Road and Seventh Avenue.
These are the routes listed by traffic police. Their availability may change as officers manage diversions, so motorists should follow directions at the designated points.
The chief traffic officer said personnel would be deployed to assist road users. Further updates will be broadcast on ITP FM 92.4 and shared through Islamabad Police’s social media pages.
Motorists with appointments, bus connections or other time sensitive journeys should factor the announced delays into their departure plans and check police updates before travelling.
