Karachi: Indian entertainment journalist Faridoon Shehryar has praised Pakistani actor Sheheryar Munawar's portrayal of Abu Bakr in the television drama Dar e Nijaat, calling the character a figure who has drawn considerable audience attention.
In remarks shared by Niche Lifestyle, Shehryar described Abu Bakr as a “superhero” and a man who seems capable of handling almost any situation.
He also claimed Dar e Nijaat had gained widespread popularity across the subcontinent, particularly in Pakistan and India, as well as among audiences in overseas markets.
“Dar e Nijaat has taken over the subcontinent by storm,” he said, referring to the drama's reception beyond Pakistan.
Shehryar also praised Durefishan Saleem, describing her work in the serial as potentially the most popular performance of her career.
Shehryar's comments highlight how digital platforms and social media bring Pakistani television productions to audiences outside the country. Pakistani dramas have built followings in India and among South Asian communities overseas, where shared languages and cultural references make their stories accessible across national boundaries.
Although Shehryar described the drama's international popularity as historic, he did not provide independently verified viewership figures or overseas audience data with his remarks.
His assessment also highlights the appeal of Abu Bakr's character. By describing him as a superhero, Shehryar highlighted the character's portrayal as someone who consistently makes the right decisions, which has shaped his interpretation of Munawar's performance.
The journalist's recognition of Saleem places both lead performances at the centre of the discussion surrounding the serial.
The response illustrates how Pakistani television continues to attract attention from Indian entertainment commentators despite restrictions on formal cultural collaboration between the two countries.
