Peshawar: Ali Amin Gandapur has contacted the federal government on the instructions of PTI’s parliamentary party, marking the first contact between the two sides since governor’s rule was imposed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), according to PTI sources.
The sources told QOM that Gandapur had spoken to two senior federal ministers who were part of the Centre’s negotiating team before the imposition of governor’s rule. They did not identify the ministers.
PTI’s parliamentary party authorised Gandapur to pursue negotiations during a meeting on October 20, the sources said.
They identified the restoration of the provincial government led by Sohail Afridi and the release of arrested party workers as PTI’s immediate priorities.
According to the sources, communication between PTI and the federal government had broken off after governor’s rule was imposed on October 11.
The latest approach establishes contact, but the information provided does not confirm that formal negotiations have begun. The sources did not disclose the federal ministers’ response or identify any agreed meeting, timetable or terms for further discussions.
The account is based on PTI sources. A federal government position on the reported contact was not available in the information provided to QOM.
