Lahore: Pakistani singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan has attracted attention on social media after performing Mein Jahaan Rahoon alongside his brother Wajahat Farukh Fateh Ali Khan and son Shahzaman Ali Khan.
A video shared by the Instagram account The Algorithm Is Lying shows the three family members performing the song together, bringing different generations of the family's musical tradition into one performance.
The rendition featured Rahat alongside his brother and son, with the three singers contributing their voices to a song associated with the singer's career in Bollywood.
Mein Jahaan Rahoon, from the 2007 Hindi film Namastey London, was originally performed by Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and Krishna Beura. The song, composed by Himesh Reshammiya with lyrics by Javed Akhtar, remains among Rahat's recognised recordings.
The family performance also drew attention to the musical heritage associated with the Fateh Ali Khan family, which has played a role in the development and international recognition of Qawwali.
Rahat, the nephew of Qawwali singer Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, continued the family's musical tradition while establishing a career in Pakistani and Indian film music.
His son Shahzaman Ali Khan has also pursued music, representing another generation of the family associated with classical and Sufi singing.
The appearance of Rahat, Wajahat and Shahzaman together highlighted the continuation of that tradition through performances involving members of the same family.
The video has circulated on social media, where the performance has drawn attention for bringing together three voices from the Fateh Ali Khan musical lineage.
Details regarding the venue and date of the performance have not been confirmed.
