Islamabad: President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif paid glowing tributes to Quaid i Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah on Thursday on the occasion of his 78th death anniversary, observed nationwide on September 11. In separate commemorative messages, both leaders lauded Jinnah's visionary leadership, political acumen, and lifelong constitutional struggle for the rights of Muslims in the subcontinent, which ultimately led to the creation of an independent Pakistan.
They urged the nation to adopt the Quaid’s foundational principles of unity, faith, and discipline as a guiding compass to navigate contemporary socio economic and security challenges.
In his statement, President Zardari emphasised that sustainable national development and institutional stability remain unattainable without equal protection under the law for all citizens. Calling on political forces to transcend immediate factional differences, the President advocated for constitutional dialogue and democratic mechanisms to resolve pressing national crises, describing Jinnah’s life as a radiant lighthouse for overcoming political, economic, and environmental emergencies.
Concurrently, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reaffirmed the government's commitment to transforming Pakistan into a developed welfare state in alignment with the founder’s political legacy, stressing that national cohesion and economic stability are essential to bequeathing a prosperous country to future generations.
