Islamabad: Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif has directed authorities to ensure that power load shedding in any area of the country does not exceed two hours, amid disruptions affecting electricity generation and RLNG supplies.
The prime minister issued the directive while chairing a meeting on power load management in Islamabad to review the country’s electricity supply situation.
The meeting was informed that power generation had declined due to the regional situation, tensions in the Strait of Hormuz and disruptions in RLNG supplies caused by transmission difficulties. These factors have required load management to maintain a balance between electricity demand and supply.
Shehbaz Sharif directed the relevant authorities to take immediate steps to address disruptions in RLNG supplies and make effective use of all available resources. He stressed that these measures should help keep load shedding within the two-hour limit in every area.
The prime minister also ordered the establishment of Consumer Grievance Redressal Committees at the level of power distribution companies (DISCOs) to address public complaints about electricity supply and other related issues.
He directed that the committees include public representatives and become operational within one week.
The meeting was also briefed on the mechanism available to electricity consumers for registering complaints. Consumers can lodge complaints through helpline 118, after which they are provided with a token number and an estimated time for resolution.
Officials further informed the meeting that monsoon rains had not affected electricity supply to consumers across the country, except for six consumers in Rajanpur district.
The prime minister directed authorities to use available resources and address supply disruptions to keep electricity load shedding within the specified limit.
