Islamabad: The government raised high speed diesel by Rs1.91 to Rs393.66 per litre from October 24, while petrol remains unchanged at Rs 377.71, according to the latest price notification.
The latest adjustment comes as Pakistan continues to revise fuel prices more frequently in response to fluctuations in international oil markets and to uncertainty surrounding the Middle East conflict.
Although petrol prices remained unchanged in the latest revision, the diesel price increase is significant for sectors that depend heavily on commercial transport.
Trucks, buses, agricultural machinery, and industrial generators widely use high speed diesel. Price changes can affect transportation and operating costs, with potential implications for the prices of goods and services.
Under the revised mechanism, the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) sets prices based on international market trends, with the government seeking to reflect changes in global fuel costs more quickly.
The authorities also introduced fuel conservation measures, including restrictions on official vehicle fuel allocations and earlier market closing times.
Under the latest notification, petrol users will see no additional increase, while transport operators and other diesel dependent sectors will face slightly higher fuel costs.
The next price revision is expected after the current rates expire on October 26.
