Islamabad: Pakistan’s civilian and military leadership solemnly observed the 61st martyrdom anniversary of Major Raja Aziz Bhatti Shaheed, Nishan e Haider, honoring his legendary courage and supreme sacrifice during the 1965 War. In separate commemorative messages, President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif lauded Major Aziz Bhatti’s unwavering commitment to the defence of the nation, describing his bravery as an enduring source of pride for the country and a beacon of inspiration for future generations.

The Armed Forces of Pakistan, led by Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Naval Chief Admiral Naveed Ashraf, Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, and Commander National Strategic Command General Syed Aamer Raza, also paid rich tribute to the war hero.

According to Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), the military leadership reaffirmed its steadfast resolve to safeguard the nation’s sovereignty with the same spirit embodied by Major Bhatti, who famously defended the strategic Burki sector near Lahore for five consecutive days and nights against relentless enemy advances before embracing martyrdom on September 12, 1965.
