Kohat: More than 20 people were injured in a blast near the Old Police Lines in Kohat, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, on Friday, according to Rescue 1122.
Rescue 1122 spokesperson Bilal Ahmed Faizi said rescue teams reached the site after receiving information about the explosion and began relief and rescue operations.
More than 20 injured people were shifted to nearby hospitals, while several of those injured were reported to be in critical condition. Rescue teams were continuing operations at the site as authorities assessed the situation.
Rescue 1122 said 14 ambulances and more than 35 personnel were involved in the emergency response.
Television footage showed residents gathered near a building with a collapsed wall, searching through debris and helping those injured in the blast.
The cause of the explosion had not been established in the initial reports, and further details were awaited as emergency and security teams continued their work at the scene.
The blast has placed further pressure on emergency services and local hospitals as they treat a large number of injured people. The circumstances surrounding the explosion remain under investigation.
