London: Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, was reportedly spotted having dinner with Pakistani education activist and Nobel Peace Prize laureate Malala Yousafzai at Claridge's hotel in London.
According to a report shared by HELLO! magazine, the two were seen in conversation during an evening visit to the hotel.
The publication shared footage of the encounter on social media, drawing attention to the meeting between two public figures involved in advocacy for women and girls.
Neither Meghan nor Malala has publicly confirmed whether they arranged the meeting in advance or it happened by chance. They have also not disclosed details of their conversation.
Meghan, who married Prince Harry in 2018, has worked on initiatives concerning women's empowerment, gender equality and access to opportunities through her charitable and media projects.
After the couple stepped back from their roles as senior working members of the British royal family in 2020, Meghan continued her public work through the Archewell Foundation and other ventures.
Malala, meanwhile, has remained involved in international campaigns for girls' education through the Malala Fund, an organisation she co-founded with her father, Ziauddin Yousafzai.
The Pakistani activist survived an attack by the Taliban in Swat in 2012 after speaking publicly about girls' right to education. She later became an international advocate for access to education.
In 2014, Malala received the Nobel Peace Prize alongside Indian children's rights activist Kailash Satyarthi, becoming the youngest recipient at 17.
Her work has since focused on addressing barriers to girls' education, particularly in countries affected by conflict, poverty and restrictions on women's rights.
Meghan and Malala have also previously appeared together in a virtual conversation marking the International Day of the Girl in October 2020.
During that discussion, they spoke about the importance of education, and the challenges girls face around the world.
Their reported meeting in London has therefore attracted attention because of their previous interaction and their involvement in issues concerning women and education.
Claridge's, located in London's Mayfair district, regularly hosts public figures, business leaders and international visitors.
The reported sighting has sparked online discussion, although no announcement has been made about a new collaboration or joint initiative between Meghan and Malala.
For now, the nature of their latest meeting remains unconfirmed.
