South Waziristan: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Information Adviser Samar Haroon Bilour condemned the targeting of civilian homes and Angoor Adda bazaar following Afghan border firing that killed one resident and injured five members of a family on Tuesday.
Bilour described the attacks as deplorable and said violations of Pakistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity would not be tolerated.
According to Pakistani officials cited in an earlier Dawn report, Afghan forces fired from positions across the border at Pakistan Army posts and nearby residential areas. Five members of a family were injured when a mortar struck their home.
Pakistani forces returned fire. Sources quoted in that report said Afghan border posts, mortar positions and defensive bunkers were targeted during the response.
Bilour praised the armed forces’ immediate action in defence of the country, saying there could be no compromise on protecting the public and national sovereignty.
She said KP's people had made immense sacrifices against terrorism and could not bear further instability. They wanted peace, she added, while stressing that aggression against Pakistan would receive a response.
The adviser called for the protection of lives and property in border areas and said the nation stood united in safeguarding national security.
Angoor Adda serves as an important route for trade and civilian movement between Pakistan and Afghanistan, making the safety of nearby communities a central concern during border exchanges.
