Islamabad: Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan demanded the immediate implementation of the Supreme Court's 18 August order concerning the medical treatment of jailed former prime minister Imran Khan.
Speaking to reporters outside Parliament House on Friday, Gohar expressed concern over Khan's health and said the party had approached the Supreme Court to seek enforcement of its earlier directives.
Gohar said he filed a petition requesting the implementation of the order and sought an early hearing.
The Supreme Court directed authorities to transfer Khan to Shifa International Hospital in Islamabad for medical examination and treatment. The court also ordered the formation of a medical board and permitted his personal physician Dr Faisal Sultan and sister Dr Uzma Khan to participate in his medical care.
Gohar said concerns about Khan's condition persisted despite a recent meeting between the former prime minister and his lawyer, Barrister Salman Safdar, at Adiala jail.
He criticised restrictions on Khan's access to family members and legal representatives, describing the denial of adequate medical care and regular meetings as inhumane.
The PTI chairman also demanded that Khan's personal physicians be allowed to examine him and called for the release of his detained sisters.
Gohar maintained that Khan had been imprisoned in politically motivated cases, an allegation made by the party.
Khan is in custody since August 2023.
The Supreme Court's August order required authorities to arrange hospital treatment and facilitate family contact. The government subsequently challenged aspects of the hospital transfer directive.
Gohar reiterated that Khan's health remained the party's foremost priority and urged the authorities to address the matter without further delay.
A date for the hearing of his latest petition has not been confirmed.
