Islamabad: YouTube was the most used mobile application among children in Pakistan during the first eight months of 2026, accounting for 31.2 percent of their app activity, according to an analysis by cybersecurity company.
Instagram ranked second with 18.8 percent of activity, followed by WhatsApp at 17.4 percent. Facebook accounted for 10.8 percent, while TikTok ranked fifth with 5.7 percent.
The findings were based on anonymised Kaspersky Safe Kids data covering the amount of time children spent using applications on Android devices and desktop computers during the first eight months of the year.
Multiplayer games were also among the 10 most visited online resources used by children in Pakistan. Roblox was accessed through both smartphones and computers, while Discord was among the platforms used on desktop devices.
Kaspersky said platforms that allow communication between users can expose children to interactions with people they do not know offline. The company also highlighted emerging risks linked to generative artificial intelligence, including manipulated or fabricated digital content.
The data indicates that video, social media and messaging platforms account for much of the measured mobile app activity among Pakistani children, with YouTube maintaining a substantial lead over the other platforms included in the analysis.
