Nawab Shah: A wave of grief and anger has swept through Quaid e Awam University of Engineering, Science and Technology (QUEST) following the murder of a first year undergraduate student, whose body was discovered two days after he mysteriously vanished. The victim, identified as Aqib Ali Almani, was enrolled in the university’s Data Sciences degree programme. A resident of the neighbouring Naushehro Feroze district, Almani went missing on Friday whilst reportedly returning from the university campus.
On Sunday, police officers recovered his body from a banana orchard situated alongside the main Nawabshah Sakrand Road. Speaking to reporters, the victim's uncle, Zulfiqar Almani, alleged that the young student had been subjected to brutal physical torture before being killed.
News of the grim discovery sparked immediate outrage across the QUEST campus, with hundreds of students gathering to protest against deteriorating security arrangements. Demonstrators alleged that Almani had been abducted directly from his university hostel premises, raising alarming questions regarding the vulnerability of residential students and the efficacy of campus security protocols.
Police authorities confirmed that a formal murder investigation is underway, though they noted that the precise motive behind the crime has yet to be established. Officers assured the public that forensic evidence is being gathered to track down the perpetrators and bring those responsible to justice.
