Lahore: Kasim Khan, the son of jailed former prime minister Imran Khan, has alleged that several members of his extended family were detained after authorities entered their homes and forced them into vehicles.
In a post on X, Kasim named his aunts Dr Uzma and Noureen and his cousins Shershah and Shahrez among those allegedly taken away.
He later said his cousin’s children were safe, but claimed that two more cousins, Azeem and Sakeenah, had also been detained.
Kasim described the incidents as abductions and said the family had not been informed of any charges, grounds for arrest or places of detention. He called for international intervention.
The claims could not be independently verified at the time of reporting. Authorities had not publicly confirmed the detentions, disclosed the relatives’ whereabouts or responded to Kasim’s allegations.
The reports emerged after police arrested Aleema Khan, another sister of Imran Khan, from her Lahore residence.
The Lahore district administration issued an order placing Aleema in detention for 30 days. According to the official notification, authorities considered her public presence a threat to public safety.
Her family and Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) rejected that justification and questioned her whereabouts and legal treatment.
The detentions come before a protest march planned by PTI for September 27 to demand Imran Khan’s release.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has said the government will take necessary measures to prevent the planned mobilisation. Party leaders have accused the authorities of attempting to suppress the protest by detaining members of Khan’s family and political associates.
No official information available at the time of publication established whether the relatives named by Kasim had been formally arrested under any law or placed in preventive detention.
The absence of confirmation leaves their legal status and location unclear.
