Karachi: Artist and actor Jamal Shah recently took a television talk show to refute claims by his ex wife Faryal Gauhar that he was violent towards her during their marriage.

Shah was appearing as a guest on a television talk show where he rubbished the claims made by Gauhar and said that he would not seek defamation charges against her even though she had no evidence to support her claim. Shah said that he was never a misogynists and that any claims of domestic violence were completely untrue.

Gauhar, also known for her television and film career in the 1980's and 1990's, was married to Shah in 1983 but the marriage ended in divorce after just nine years, The pair were at the time considered one of Lollywood's power couples.

Appearing as a guest on an episode of Good Morning Pakistan she spoke about allegedly facing domestic violence in her marriage. She said that she did not know why she continued in the marriage as long as she did and claimed that she was allegedly beaten with belts and may even have miscarried due to abuse. She added that this was the cause of their divorce.
