Web Desk: One of Pakistan’s best selling fictional detectives is heading to the big screen as the first trailer for Inspector Jamshed: The Secret Parchment gives audiences a glimpse of the ambitious new adaptation.
The film stars Omair Rana in the titular role, with Ahad Raza Mir portraying Behzaad, a mysterious antagonist connected to a series of murders. The trailer combines detective intrigue with action, family drama and international locations.
At the heart of the story is a mysterious parchment that draws Inspector Jamshed into a dangerous investigation. Alongside him are his three children, Mehmood, Farooq, and Farzana, who become involved as the family confronts a powerful adversary.
The trailer features high speed cars, dramatic confrontations, secret societies and elaborate gadgets, while also hinting at the personal stakes involved. Behzaad’s kidnapping of Jamshed’s daughter creates tension within the family and adds an emotional dimension to the thriller.
Anoushay Abbasi plays Jamshed’s wife, Shakeela, while Asif Raza Mir takes on the role of Khan Rehman, Jamshed’s trusted friend. Ravel Imran and siblings Ahmed and Aline Harkous portray his children.
The film is based on the hugely popular Inspector Jamshed novels by the late Pakistani writer Ishtiaq Ahmed, whose stories introduced generations of young readers to the detective and his family.
The production also has an international flavour, with Rana noting that the cast and crew represent more than 13 nationalities. The film was shot in Abu Dhabi, including locations such as the Louvre Abu Dhabi and the surrounding desert.
Following the trailer’s release, several Pakistani celebrities expressed their excitement and congratulated the cast and team. Mahira Khan, Sarwat Gilani, Shaista Lodhi, Yasir Hussain and Maya Ali were among those praising the project online.
With production complete, Inspector Jamshed: The Secret Parchment is scheduled for a 2027 release, marking a major cinematic revival of one of Pakistani popular fiction’s enduring characters.
