Berlin: Xiaomi may still be best known for its smartphones. Home appliances and connected devices have become an increasingly important part of its business. Now, Xiaomi is putting greater emphasis on four wheels.
Xiaomi cars are already a familiar sight for consumers in China. Now the company wants to bring them to European roads too.
In that spirit, Xiaomi announced at IFA 2026 that it plans to launch its electric vehicles in Europe in 2027, marking the next stage of its expansion beyond smartphones and consumer electronics.
Rather than treating the car as a separate product, Xiaomi says it wants to integrate them into a connected system that links devices around the home. The aim is to move users between different environments while staying connected to the devices they rely on every day.
After announcing its all electric SkyNomad SUV's in July, Xiaomi officially launched the four car lineup in China, which starts at USD31,275) for the N70 Pro model.
The priciest SkyNomad N90 Studio Max offers a pop-up camping roof, rotatable front seats, a collapsible table, and back seats that fold into a bed and costs USD 44,685.
Xiaomi delivered more than 30,000 vehicles for a fifth consecutive month in August . An August sales breakdown for the SU7 sedan and YU7 SUV (sport utility vehicle) is not yet available.
Xiaomi Autos delivered 246,475 vehicles in the first eight months of the year, up 9.65 percent from last year but slowing not after the first seven months representing 44.8 percent of its annual target of 550,000 vehicles.
The company is aiming to break into the European market early next year following competitors like BYD which has successfully established its brand in the EU.
