Lahore: The Punjab Walled Cities and Heritage Areas Authority (PWCA) has formally announced the launch of its 2026 tourism season, commencing with the return of its flagship ‘History By Night’ tour on Saturday, September 12. The nocturnal heritage experience, which allows domestic and international visitors to explore Lahore’s Mughal era monuments under specialised illumination, will initially run every Saturday evening, with additional weekly operational days planned subject to visitor demand. As part of the seasonal relaunch, the ticket fee for the guided tour has been revised from Rs 2,500 to Rs 2,800 per head.

The updated itinerary offers curated access to the historic Lahore Fort precinct and adjacent heritage sites, including Hazuri Bagh and the Badshahi Mosque. Guests will be taken to view the Picture Wall recognised as the world's largest mosaic wall alongside key architectural landmarks such as the Jahangir Quadrangle, Diwan e Khas, Sheesh Mahal, Pine Garden, and the Royal Kitchen. To complement the architectural tours, the authority has integrated live musical performances, theatrical re enactments depicting Mughal court life, and traditional cultural showcases into the evening route.

Alongside the fort tours, the PWCA is reviving several secondary heritage programs, including the ‘Chandni Raatain’ sessions at Shalimar Gardens, the Khilwat Khana Tour, Haveli Tour, and religious tourism Yatras. The authority also plans to host Qawwali nights, Sufi music recitals, and artisan workshops throughout the autumn season. PWCA Director General Najamul Saqib stated that the initiative aims to present Punjab's historic monuments as living cultural spaces, uniting arts, music, and traditional crafts to foster heritage conservation and public engagement.
