Islamabad: The Senate Committee on Interior and Narcotics Control on Monday will take up the issue of regarding the abduction of an eleven-year-old girl for ransom in Sindh today.

The committee meeting is working under the chairmanship of Senator Syed Faisal Saleem Rehman and will also take up the issue referred by parliament to the committee on an alleged incident of physical abuse and brutality with Pashtun traders and labourers that occurred in Karachi as reported in the print and electronic media.

The Inspector General (IG) Sindh will brief the committee on the abduction of girl and alleged torture of Pashtun labourers. On the agenda, the compliance report of the recommendations made by the committee in its previous meeting held on July 10 will be presented

Apart from this the chairman of the Capital Development Authority (CDA), on the following matters, namely regarding non implementation of the committee's recommendations of 10th January 2022, concerning the appointment of Khateeb, Imams, Mudarris-e-Quran, Moazzins, caretakers, and other related staff in CDA mosques located in the Pakistan Secretariat, Parliament House Building, and Parliament Lodges, Islamabad.

Comprehensive briefing on the initiatives taken to replace 13 outdated elevators at Parliament House Building; Establishment of daycare centers in government offices and in commercial and residential areas and the paid smart parking policy in the Islamabad Capital Territory.

The interior secretary will also brief the committee on policy regarding issuance of arms licences to the business community and high taxpayers, of Pakistani visas to foreigners and the role of the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) with regards to both issues. A policy regarding the confiscation of a passenger's mobile phone by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) at the airport to check messages, call records, and social media activity is also being discussed.
