Islamabad: Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif has reaffirmed Pakistan’s strategic alliance with Saudi Arabia, asserting that the landmark Makkah Joint Defence Agreement signed between Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Türkiye has brought the three nations closer together and sent a message of unity throughout the region. Speaking during a high level meeting with visiting Saudi Minister for Environment, Water, and Agriculture, Engineer Abdulrahman bin Abdulmohsen Al Fadley, at PM House, the premier called for expanding security commitments into robust trade and agricultural partnerships.
The PM conveyed his warmest regards to King Salman bin Abdulaziz and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, emphasising that the relationship must now translate into concrete economic opportunities. PM Shehbaz noted that the security pact, signed on August 7 in Makkah, established a foundation of collective security that should be complemented by joint ventures in modern farming, efficient water management, and technology driven crop productivity. To carry these initiatives forward, Pakistan will shortly dispatch a dedicated delegation of agricultural experts to Riyadh.
The meeting was attended by senior cabinet officials, including federal ministers Mohammad Aurangzeb, Attaullah Tarar, Rana Tanveer Hussain, Jam Kamal Khan, and Dr Musadik Malik. Minister Al Fadley expressed gratitude for the hospitality and reiterated Saudi Arabia’s commitment to deepening cooperation in food security.
Separately, Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir hosted Minister Al Fadley at General Headquarters in Rawalpindi to review bilateral defence ties and environmental initiatives. Field Marshal Munir reiterated Pakistan's unshakeable commitment to the historic brotherhood, while the Saudi dignitary commended Pakistan's contributions to regional peace. .
